How I Met My Rhett...

Ok, so today I had to tell my maid of honor the story of how Rob and I met. I think it's a cute story and so decided to share with others. Aren't you all just the luckiest bunch of bloggers? LOL...here goes:

We were both signed up on Match.com. I had up a free profile, but wasn't paying the money to email anyone. Just wanted to see if anyone would email me first. I had several "older" men emailing me, but no one I was interested in. Then one day, I got an email from Rob. I checked out his profile, but to be honest, the pic he used made him look nerdy. I decided not to answer him, even tho I liked the email he had sent. One or two days went by and I finally said "what the heck" and paid the $25 monthly fee and answered him back. We started out by emailing each other for a week or so (I went out of town for a family gathering) and when i returned we talked on the phone and then decided to meet on a saturday night (June 7th) to see a movie - The Matrix, part 2. I remember when I was waiting for him at the theater (I got there first and bought the tickets) that when I first saw him walking across the parking lot, my first thought was "are you kidding me? Is that a PURSE he is carrying?" I have since learned it is his "man bag". Whatever..I still call it his purse. We dated for about a month, at which point HE broke up with me. We continued emailing and IM'ing online for a few days, and after 3 days, he realized the error of his ways and said he missed me and could we give it another chance. So the rest is history. By Thanksgiving, I had moved in with him (location is everything - his house was only 2 miles from my work and it sure beat the commute from Rancho Cordova!). About 9 months after meeting, he told his parents he was going to ask me to marry him. He then went to my mother to get her blessing. She in turn, called my sister and told her! He waited a couple days after that to ask me. So basicly, everyone but ME knew he was going to ask me to marry him! I'm always the last to know....

One night I was in my jammies working on a puzzle and Rob was at the computer. He stopped, came over to me, told me sit down. That "we needed to talk". Oh no, I thought..."are you breaking up with me?" I asked him..."no" he said and hugged me, then sat back and asked me to marry him, using one of my many QVC rings that I own. He then let me pick out the ring that I wanted.

Thus, began Jan's 1 yr and 5 month journey to planning the perfect wedding...and along the way, several times, Rob would ask of her "are you sure it doesn't say anything in those magazines you keep buying about going to Tahoe?"

It was the best $25 dollars I ever spent.... ;-)

Ahhhh! SO Sweet!
I met Mike through the internet also. We had profiles on FriendFinder.com (The regular one... Not the adult one...LOL)

But I was the one who wrote to him (in October 1999). He didn't answered. But after a month he did. First emails, then looooooooooong phone calls. On December 11, 1999 we met personally for the first time. By February 13, 2000 he proposed without a ring (on the phone). And one year later, on February 17, 2001 we marry. We didn't lived together until we married.

Love those stories!!!
Thanks for sharing it with us!!!

A former co-worker of mine had a "man bag" (yeah, whatever!) ~ I made so much fun of him, he stopped carrying it. I'm mean like that. But, he is a VERY good friend of mine to this day. We don't discuss the purse anymore. Hehe!

So if Rob was sold in a store, he'd be on the bargain rack at Wal-Mart marked down to $24.99? LOL

That was a great story, man bag and all.

Awww! That is a nice story! Lots different from my engagement story! I said, "I am pregnant." He said, "Let's get married." Not quite as romantic as your story, huh? :-)

I loved reading your story :-) I met Eric on the internet too - we're still living in different states but hopefully that will change next year, and I'll be the one doing the wedding countdown :-)

I loved reading your story. Thank you for posting it. I didn't meet my DH that way (he was my boss, but that's a whole nother story) but one of my closest friends I met online.

Love the man purse.
