Flashback Friday!

Let's revisit Australia! This will be a short and sweet quicky from that same trip that I talked about last week.

So now it's the following week and we are back home in Melbourne. (By the way, Aussies pronouce that as Mel~bun). One day we decide to go for a drive to some small mountain, hilltop, what have you and climb to the top. The view from the top was suppose to be really cool.

So we get there and take our water, cameras, etc with us for the long hike up. Please keep in mind that while we are visiting, this country is having one of it's hottest summers ever! 120 degree days! bleck! Talk about sweaty, sticky and just plain uncomfortable at times. We located the trail and start up. It doesn't take long before we are being bitten by the flies. Not just any flies....Aussie Flies! They are bigger, uglier and just down right mean compared to the flies here. And for some reason, they REALLY like me! I had on shorts so my legs were free game to them. I swatted and freaked out the whole time going up. Mom and I were in the lead and because of the flies I was walking faster because my sister or mom or whomever said they wouldn't be at the top because it's windy up there. I just wanted to get to the top! The trail was thick with brush and trees that scratched us as well so it took maybe 45 min's to 1 hour to get to the top. Mom and I got there first. Yes, the view was amazing! But the flies were worse! OMG!! They immediately swarmed on me and starting biting. I took 2 pics and fled the scene! LOL

I told mom I was outta there! I immediately started running back down the trail, taking any short cuts I could. Mom started down after me, yelling at me to stop and slow down before I fell and got hurt. LOL...I passed the rest of my family as they were still hiking up! I had the keys to the car and my goal was to get there fast and get in. It may have taken 45 min to 1 hr to hike up, but I made it down in like 15-20 min! LOL...mom was hot on my trail too. By the time she got to me, I was already in the car, windows rolled up. It was hot. She tried to convince me to roll down the windows, but I didn't want to. She tells me my face was beat red and I appeared to be crazed. LOL... Finally we rolled down the windows and she got me out of the car as the flies weren't so bad in the parking lot. It was a good hour before everyone else showed up so we could leave.
Needless to say, my sister and mom have told this story countless times to others at my embarrassment over being scared of flies...
The way I remember it...
It was like being in an Alfred Hitchcock movie....

OK, Pam Now that I have been Busting up & my head doesn't hurt so much. That was good. I think better than last weeks. I was reading it to my Great Nephew and almost couldn't read it out loud sometimes.

I am still trying to figure out what I am gonna blogg for this week. I had one on Wednesday, but it wasn't Flashback Wednesday.......LOL and now I can't remember what it was.

Well I will post by this evening. Thanks for the laugh today.

Jan, see, even your mom thinks you are a little crazy (crazed, crazy...close enought). You know, you would never survive in the mosquito capital known as South Florida. Those suckers love certain people over others. I get the impression they would look at you as some sort of buffet.

So Jan I suppose you won't be visiting me ever... 'cause mosquitoes here have a mind of their own. hehehe! And I have the kind of skin they like. yikes! That's why I NEVER go camping.

Still thinking on a story to post...
