So, I'm at work this morning, minding my own beeswax and all of a sudden the phone rings. It's a nurse from Kaiser, calling to go over my "procedure" for Monday afternoon.
[Her]: You're scheduled to come in at 1:30pm on Monday. Instead we would like you to be here at 1pm.
[Me]: Yes, the person who called me 2 weeks ago told me 1pm. I will be there then.
[Her]: Good. I just need to go over a few things with you. Do you have any pre-existing health conditions? Heart, diabetes, asthma, high blood-pressure?
[Me]: Yes, I found out I have asthma this past summer. But only when I get a cold, allergies or exercise.
[Her]: Ok. Are you currently on any medications?
[Me]: No.
[Her]: Allergic to any medications?
[Me]: No.
[Her]: Have you ever had any surgeries or procedures where you were put under sedation?
[Me]: No.
[Her]: Do you have a living will?
WTF???!!!
I wasn't aware I would be dying on Monday! Gee, I THOUGHT I was just going in for a biopsy? I will be sedated but not all the way out. Sigh....
Now, this afternoon I ended up emailing my sister at work and told her. Fast forward to this evening. I was in the middle of making my dinner and the phone rings. Rhett picks up and brings me the phone.
"It's your sister."
[Me]: Hello.
[Her]: Hey, when you do your living will, can you make sure to put down that I get all your clothes?
[Me]: (voice elevated) I'm not doing a will!
[Her]: (laughing) OK! But did you know you can just write it on a piece of paper? You can leave everthing to Rhett. But I just wanted to make sure I got your clothes!
Oy! Family....

ROTFFLMFAO!!! :) Good to know she cares so much. HeHe.
Amy
;-) you bet! you want her?
OMG, too funny Jan. You know they ask everyone that. It will be fine. Deep breaths, and don't talk to your sister until Monday at 3:00! :)
Isn't a living will telling your loved ones how you want to be taken care of in case you need to go onto life support machines? I don't think a living will has anything to do with you possessions. Sorry to be so serious, but I wanted to see if you knew what the nurse was asking for.
ROTFLMAO!!!
hmmm...what do I want??? I guess Rhett gets your purses...your sister ~ your clothes...I'll get back with you!!
I had to have surgery a couple years ago and they asked me this right before I went into surgery ~ all I could think of was dying and not seeing Dylan again...didn't think of my husband or kids...just Dylan.
I think a living will is just document stating whether you want to be on life support...organ donor...blah blah blah...
BUT you won't need it...you will be fine. Keep us posted...
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers...
OMG...Jan , You are a hoot. Your sister sounds like my sister...
A few years ago my little sister went around to my house and my mom's house and my grandmother's house putting these little green dots (the sticker kind)on everything. We ask her what she was doing putting all these green Dots on our stuff she said she saw on TV that you should go through the things you would like to have left to you if a loved one dies and mark them so in the event of a death everyone know what is yours. So she wanted us to know she wanted everything with a GREEN DOT. I was only like 35 at time...
Don't worry everything is gonna be Fine.
I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers , too.
LOL..Sheryl, yes, you are correct. However, my sister just "heard" the will part and wanted to make sure she got some stuff. LOL...maybe i'll leave her an organ...hehehe....
If we are choosing what we want - Can I have your house in CA? I have always wanted a place on the west coast!
HA HA

I'll be thinking of you, Jan. I am glad that you are doing this now and will have peace of mind. All will be fine.
Just wanted to pop in and say hello and let you know I'm thinking about you. I know all will go well. Please check up with us when you are up to it and let us know how you are doing.
