Freedom from the box, that is. I finally did it, girls and boys. I called NS and cancelled my auto-delivery! Heck, the last time I ordered was Nov. I have delayed it for 2 months to save on money. By mid-Dec, I had ran out of breakfasts and lunches. And I haven't been eating the dinners. So, I have basicly been doing it on my own anyway for a couple of months now. Using Christina Gray's or Amy's recipes. Or using things I have found at the grocery store that are compatible to an NS entree, only better tasting. LOL...
So, it's like this folks. I'm a picky eater. And while I think some of the NS food tasted good, it wasn't great and frankly, my dears, I don't give a damn about the box anymore! I live and work in the real world. I don't have kids, or anything keeping me from making my own healthy meals. I have no excuse not to start cooking my own stuff and keeping myself accountable to eating healthy. I will not always be in situations where I have a choice on what I'm eating. For instance, here at work, coming up we are having a "State of the Firm" meeting and lunch will be served. More than likely it will be pizza or pasta, or something just plain unhealthy and full of empty calories. I do, however, have a choice of *how much* I put into my mouth. I've been doing ok lately with keeping things portioned right. With exception to this past Sunday, when for some reason, my brain tossed all that knowledge out of my ear and I found myself empty headed and swooning over Pirates Booty. I hadn't had that stuff in over a year. I bought some and damn if I didn't inhale the entire bag in one day!!! LOLOL...we also bought giant cinnamon rolls covered in cream cheese frosting and each had one!! Oh my goodness!!! I'm surprised I wasn't sick! I could blame it on my period, I suppose. But really, just because some of us crave sweets and other bad stuff on our periods, is no excuse to gorge on it.
I also would like to start fixing more healthy meals for my hubby. We are both exercising and trying to lose this unwanted poundage. He's having a hard time as well. Ever since he stopped "chewing tobacco" he put on 20 pounds and just can't seem to get it off. He works out at home, rides his commuter bike to and from work and has cut back on his Doritto Chip intake, but still is just maintaining. I have made meals for us in the past that not only were low GI for me, but vegetarian as well for him. I need to get back to doing that. Meat hasn't liked me all that well anymore anyway. I basicly don't eat much red meat at all. It has totally turned on me the past 5 yrs. Now I'm more turkey and chicken.
Now for other news....I read a blog that is totally non-NS related. The link is my top link at this point. "007". He wrote a post last week about a "blog hijacker" who manages to take over people's blogs and turn them into porn sites. He gets ahold of your password and changes it. Then he changes the emails to come to him. So if you try to change your password with blogger, they send him the email and not you. He changes your links to be directed to porn sites. This way he is directing traffic to thoses sites and getting paid for it. He's somewhere in Brazil. "007" (or The Corporal now, he changed his name and I have yet too here. His blog's name is Curbed-Enthusiasm) - anyway, he called this guy out and posted his name and where he lives and his emails, etc. If you get a chance, please go read that post, as it tells how this person gets ahold of you and takes over your blog. I would hate to see this happen to any of you.
Second, I have a new toy!!! For over a year I have been talking to Rhett about wanting a new digital SLR camera with interchangable lens. I also knew I wanted a Canon. It's what my dad used and I know he would have one now if he was still alive. (On an "off" note, if he WAS still alive, mom would STILL be living with him and I would have no one telling me HOW TO SPEND MY MONEY now that i'm married.) Ok, back to the camera....this past Saturday we were out and about at Wal-Mart and as we were leaving, I saw the camera shop across the way. I've been there before, but Rhett had never. It's a professional shop. So Rhett said let's stop in "just to see and get info". Ok. The guy that helped us was really nice and talked to us (mainly me since im the photographer), like we were going to buy it that day. Even when I said we wanted info only at this point, he didn't batt an eye...simply said "you're really gonna walk outta here without it?" LOLOL...Rhett said "I think we should get it." I didn't want him using his bonus money from work, but he's gonna anyway. He even let me get the nicer lens that will be better for taking portraits. So, we have a new toy! Haven't played with it much. No time with end of month. But that's over now, so tonight I can go home and play! hehehe...it's a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT - 8 mega pixels. And wow can it take some pics! I have tons to learn what all it can do. The salesman showed us a lot, but I gotta read the book, etc. We can also hook it up to the TV and view pics.
Ok, I'm done writing this novel for now. Hope everyone is doing well!
Oh! ps - i'm still at 100% on food and water this week and down 2.5 pounds so far! And it's only Wednesday!

wooo hooo...2.5 pounds already! Thatta girl!
And you are on your own food! Impressive! I am a little freaky right now because I have about 8 dinners and dessert left but that is it. So I have been doing my own food for BK and Lunch. I can't wait to get back to my 'box'! I just can't seem to open my box that has been in the garage until the dinners are gone!
As for the 'blog hijacker'....THAT SUCKS. Hope he stays away from all of us!
Oh..and have fun with your 'new toy'!!!! Although I was a little afraid to keep reading!!! :P
You bought the camera I want! *jelous eyes*
That's for the info on that mean guy from Brazil... I'll got check it out now.
Congrats on the weight loss!
WOOHOO way to go Jan 2.5 pounds. Good for you. Congrats on the Toy to..that Rhett is a sweetie.
Hey--what the heck is a computer bike? I'm so happy about tall the weight you've been losing!!
I could only hope that someone would turn my blog into a porn site. It's pretty boring, as is! LOL
You're doing great Jan. You can do fine with your own food. That's funny because I went back on the NS food. But it is always good to throw in a little variety. It's the spice of life, you know. Atta girl on the 100% days, the now 3.5 pounds gone, and the determination you seem to have found! You'll be back to that wedding weight and lower in no time.
Jamie ~ Thanks!!! I'm loving doing real food again. NS wasn't saving me any $$ at all! I was still spending just as much at the store as we did every week anyway and I had that over $200 NS on top of it. Plus lately I have been getting too many sub-in's or missing items and paying that much I really think they need to get a better handle on what they are doing.
Edith ~ don't be jealous! But it is a really nice SLR camera!!! I love that I will be able to do more of what I love again! Taking peoples portraits! And I may even get to do my friend's daughter's wedding this next year!
Pamela ~ Thanks!! I will keep him! hehehe...
Jen ~ You're not the first to ever call me Chatty Kathy! LOL....yea, I'm gonna a la carte it for some breakfasts, lunches and desserts every great moon. Love those mint choco bars! hehe...
Chris ~ Commuter bike! LOL..I went and changed it. damn typos!!!
Em ~ thanks! I sure hope this determination sticks around this time and doesn't take yet another vacation at my expense!! It's really pissing me off! LOL
jan- you're doing grrreeat! keep it up, you can do it!! you have been so... :) happy fff day! haha!! i just got a casio exilm 7.2 mp camera- i can't wait to try it out too. have fun with yours... i have to learn all of the features too.
Thanks for the heads up the that guy. Why do poeple have to ruin it for the rest of us??
Sigh..
Hope you have a great weekend!
Great job in getting back on track and for choosing to do it on your own. And for the exercise too. It sounds like the pre-wedding Jan is back (you are the one that got married, right?).
Scarlett, I hope doing this without the NS food continues to work for you!
As for the hijacking, that does suck! I know I don't have enough traffic through my site (I hope) to make it a target.
As for the camera, the XT is a great model. I have Canon equipement as well and just love it! If only I could afford the 1DS Mark II...everyone has $8000 laying around right?!?!? If you haven't visited DP Review you might want to check them out. I have a link at my blog. Let us know when you have a link to some pics!
Hey Jan, how about putting up one of you pretty wedding pics instead of the other Scarlett? The way the light hits the top of her head it looks like she's wearing some weird gypsy headpiece and is getting ready to tell fortunes. Spooky.
