Well....I don't even know how to say this...

My dr. called me tonight at 7pm. It turns out that she had called the lab back about my results from my Jan. 9th procedure because she had a question about something he put down. He changed his mind on what I had. The term she used was a really long medical name and I can't remember right now. But it does mean that I need to have that hysterectomy after all. If I don't, then it will turn into cancer and eventually spread. Since we don't plan on having kids, it's strongly suggested that I do this now. She will call me back on Thursday to see if she can fit me in her OR schedule this month...if not, then it will happen on March 24th. Since I haven't had kids, then I have to be cut thru my belly. Great. Can't wait for that scar (she says sacastically). Maybe she can suck out all that fat while she's there? Ok, I'm getting freaked out typing this, so I'm just gonna stop now.

Jan...think about this. You DON'T have cancer. There is a way to prevent getting it and that is to have a hysterectomy, which is something you are willing to do because you don't want children. I know it seems silly, but your answer is right there, honey. Remove the "issue" and all done. Most of the women I work with have had one and they say, after all the getting used to hormone changes, that it's great. Don't sweat this, Janny. It's small stuff that you can take care of.

Luv ya!

Hey Jan,
Tina is right. If this will prevent you from getting cancer , it is a good thing. I had one last September and I tell you I feel so much better. I do not miss how sick I would get during that time of the month. No more cramps, no pms, no more pads, no more tampons.
Try to look at the bright side and don't think about the rest. We will be keeping you in our prayers.

Oh, Jan, I'm so sorry. I know you're stressed, but Tina is right. This is a good thing. Most of the women I work with have also had it done, and in the end they all say it was the best thing they ever did. Surgery is scary, but it is only one day and then a couple of weeks recovery, and you'll be back to normal with no worries about that uterus of yours! It will be over soon, and I am just glad that you are healthy. No cancer is a great thing! Chin up.

Personally, after 2 c-sections, it wouldn't hurt to find out if they can work a tummy tuck in with the surgery for your benefit. What the hell - they can only say no!
Keep your chin up - this is a preventative step and it will stop any chance of it getting worse.

We are here with ya!

hmm, well if it took them this long to turn around and say that- could they be wrong? how about another test or 2nd opinon? just a suggestion...

either way, my mom had this done across the tummy anyway (even though she's had 2 kids) and it took awhile to get back to normal but she's doing okay- just have to take estrogen supplements for healthy bones!

i wouldn't worry, just do what needs to be done - but make sure it's absoultely necessary. why put yourself through it if you don't have to? unless uncertainty/fear of what ifs play a role anyway- then it's just something you'll have to face... many women go through this & you'll get through it as well!

Oh you poor thing! Well, I suppose it's better to take care of it now before it turns into something worse. I hope that all goes well with everything.

Hope you still enjoy your valentines day!

Hugs,
Danielle

I'm sorry Jan. It is natural to be freaked out. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Prevention is the best medicine and that's what it sounds like your doctor is prescribing. However, even though you don't want kids, if you are feeling uneasy or uncertain about it, perhaps you should get a 2nd opinion, just to ease your mind.

I know that it is scary, but you'll do fine........

Hugs!

Think of all the money you'll save on feminine hygiene products!! Man, you can bank that money and take a nice vacation! LOL And think how much flatter your tummy will be without that pesky uterus!
But the best part is you'll never have to worry again about cancer there if you don't own the parts anymore!
